William A. "Jack" Wilemon, 86, of Winthrop Harbor, IL joined that "Great Fisherman's Club in the Sky" on Monday, April 26, 2010, at his son's home in Winthrop Harbor, IL.
Jack was born December 23, 1923, in Fulton, MS, and married Earner J. Morris on March 22, 1946, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Fulton. Jack and Earner resided in New Britain, CT, for 2 years; in Zion, IL, from 1948-1986; and Tupelo, MS, from 1987-2007. He was employed at American Motors in Kenosha, WI, for about 15 years, and also was retired from the Laborer's Union # 152 in Highland Park; IL, during which time he helped construct the Zion Nuclear Power Plant. Jack served with the United States Navy during World War II and was a member of the VFW #4976 in Mississippi. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, and was especially loved by his five great-grandchildren to whom he passed on his love of fishing. Jack will be forever in our hearts.
Survivors include his son, William Ronnie (Kathleen A.) Wilemon of Winthrop Harbor, IL; grandchildren, Kristina M. (Micah R.) Eastvold of Winthrop Harbor, IL, and Ryan C. (Michelle) Wilemon of Kenosha, WI; great-grandchildren, Kier T., Brekken E. and Evie B. Eastvold; and Taryn R. and Michael A. Wilemon; brothers, Alfred (Pam) and Oba Wilemon; sisters, Willie R. Abbott and Becky (Sidney) Weaver; and numerous nieces and nephews in Mississippi and Illinois as well as countless friends and fishing buddies.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Chester and Lena Wilemon; wife, Earner J. in 2007; brothers, John, Leroy and Benny Wilemon; and sister, Mildred Wilemon.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2010, at 7:00 p,m at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd. Zion, with Pastor Michael Brown of the First Baptist Church of Winthrop Harbor, officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, from 5:00p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Jack will be laid to rest in a mausoleum next to his beloved Earner in Lee Memorial Cemetery, Verona, MS. In lieu of flowers, your thoughts and prayers would be greatly appreciated.
