Philip "Skip" Meyer, 64, of Beach Park, IL and long time resident of Lake County, IL passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at home surrounded by family and friends.
He was born in Chicago, IL on October 31, 1949. He was a graduate of SIU. Skip married Kathleen Elsbury on February 2, 1991. Becoming an Eagle Scout contributed to his passion of the outdoors. His favorite hobbies were hunting, fishing, and boating with family and friends in the UP. He was also a drummer in the band Shoes, and in his free time, Skip was an avid wood carver. For 30 years, Skip was self employed as a window treatment specialist. Skip touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Elsbury Meyer; two children, Daniela and Philip both of Beach Park, IL; mother-in-law, Lois Elsbury; 3 brothers-in-law; 3 sisters-in-law; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Skip was preceded in death by his parents Philip and Raemonda Meyer; and father-in-law, Michael Elsbury.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 14, 2014 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Illinois Beach Resort, One Lake Front Drive, Zion, IL 60099, with a memorial service at 5:30 p.m. Memorial donations to Our Lady of Humility School, 10655 Wadsworth Rd., Beach Park, IL 60099 would be greatly appreciated.
