Obituary of Ethel Ames

Ethel G. "Mom" Ames (nee Summers), 89, of Wadsworth, IL went to be with our Lord on Sunday, March 4, 2012, at the Terrace Nursing Home In Waukegan. Ethel was born July 20, 1922, in Franklin County, IL, and grew up in Benton, IL. They raised 10 children in Wadsworth. Ethel was a member of the Wadsworth Historical Society. She loved cooking and feeding her large family, and was the rock and "constant" in our family. Survivors include her children, Larry Ames, Sandra (Bob) Steffenhagen, Gloria Miholic, Glen (Linda) Ames, Joyce Ames, Roderick Ames, Kenneth Ames, Billy Ames, and Robert Steven (Kathie) Ames; 23 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mortimer Ames; daughter, Linda Magnuson; grandson, Brian Steffenhagen; daughter-in-law, Sandra Ames; infant grandson, Phillip James Haberski; parents, Richard and Della; brothers, Cletus, Hollis, Rufus, Virgil, Aden, Marion, and Loren Summers; and sisters, Wanda and Estalee. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 7, 2012, from 5:00-9:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home , 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL . Funeral Service will be Thursday, March 8 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Millburn Cemetery, Millburn, IL. Memorial donations are suggested to the American Heart Association. The family wishes to thank Terrace Nursing Home and Odyssey Hospice.
