Obituary of Martin Rudolph

Martin Rudolph, 78, of Winthrop Harbor, IL, died on Thursday, October 30, 2008, at home, surrounded by his family. Martin was born June 23, 1930, in Philadelphia, PA, and married Maxine L. Welch on July 1, 1950, in Waukegan. Marty was a 1947 graduate of Waukegan Township High School. He was a retired printer with the former National Press Company in North Chicago. In addition to his work at National Press, Marty tended bar at the Quonset Hut for many years. He distinguished himself by his meritorious service as a Sergeant with the United States Army during the Korean War and was awarded the Bronze Star. Martin Rudolph was a warm, caring, and very charismatic man that was loved very much, not only by his family, but friends as well. He was always respected and admired. Marty loved country music and dancing and having a good time. He made everyone feel welcome in his home. Marty had a terrific sense of humor, that never left him. He was a very strong and courageous man who loved his family, and had a passion for life. Marty was always hard working, and strived for perfection in everything he did, always taking pride in his work. No matter what happened in his life, or his families, he made sure there was a way to help. Marty was always there for everyone. His number one priority was his wife and family. You could always see the love in his eyes and feel it in his gentle embrace. Marry was a true man among men, always kind and sweet. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. You know they say " Home is where the heart is", and Marty epitomized that very phrase. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Maxine L. Rudolph; children, Martin (Rhonda) Rudolph Jr. of Beach Park, IL, Linda (Raymond) Gesiorski of Bradenton, FL, Cindy (Gary) Stankovitch of Winthrop Harbor, IL, and Pamela (Andrew) Machak of Zion, IL; grandchildren, Matthew Rudolph, James (Angela) Young, Justin and Joshua Gesiorski, Shawna (Robert) Larson and Shane Stankovitch, and Daniel, Brianne, Brittany, and Derek Machak; and three great-grandsons, Hunter and Hayden Young and Jackson Larson; brothers, Sidney (Beverly) Rudolph of NV, Herbert (Anita) Rudolph of NJ; an identical twin brother, Bernard (Toni) Rudolph of CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Harry and Rachel Rudolph. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 824 North Lewis Avenue, Waukegan.
