Edward W. Ridgway, 87, of Zion, died peacefully at home on Thursday, February 26, 2009 surrounded by his family.
Edward was born October 25, 1921 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Edward was a Veteran of World War II, having served with the Army-Air Corps in the European Theatre. He graduated from Indiana Institute of Technology in 1950. Later he went on to receive his Masters Degree in Civil Engineering and was employed as a Civil Engineer for the Veterans Administration nationwide, building or remodeling V.A. Hospitals across the United States. He was a member of Our Lady of Humility Church of Beach Park and he belonged to the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Dorothy; one daughter, Nancy (Chet) Splitt of Beach Park; one son, Edward Ridgway Jr. of Waukegan; grandsons, Bill (Lydia) Splitt and Ryan Splitt; and two great-grandchildren, Tyffani and Tyler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Josephine Ridgway; and by three brothers.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 3, 2009, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Mass of Christian burial will be on Wednesday, March 4th, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 W. Wadsworth Road, Beach Park. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville.
