Albena Boyke-Banick, 90, a resident of Waukegan for most of her life, died peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Rolling Hills Manor in Zion.
Albena was born December 27, 1918, in Waukegan, IL, and enjoyed a long, full life.
Survivors include her sons, Joseph (Polly) Banick and Paul (Barbara) Banick; her granchildren, Michael Banick, Teri (Mark) Eglund, Tony Banik, Mary (Jason) McRell, and Erika Banick; six great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Jessie, Nina, Ryenn, Hayden, and Sabrina; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Banick; her second husband, Steve Boyke; her daughter, Elizabeth Callam; and brothers, Tony, John, and Frank Vencevich.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 16, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 901 14th St., North Chicago, IL 60064. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville, IL. Visitation will be Monday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church.
