Donnie Cossman

Obituary of Donnie Cossman

Donnie Robert Cossman, 48, of Wadsworth, IL, died on Friday, March 27th, at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan, surrounded by his family. Donnie was born November 2, 1960, in Waukegan and married Patty Harris on July 17, 1982, in Waukegan. He had been most recently employed by Modern Heating for 12 years, and before that by Anchor Glass Container for 16 years. Donnie was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He had a great sense of humor and a quick wit about him. He loved life and his passion for the outdoors made him an avid deer hunter. He enjoyed taking walks with his wife and his four legged friend, Chevy. He also liked riding his bike whenever he could. He loved being with his granddaughter, Taylor. He coached little league baseball for both of his sons when they were growing up. He collected antique telephones and enjoyed going to antique shows. Don was also a huge NASCAR and sprint car fan and enjoyed watching and attending races. Don was a very talented man. He was able to build his own home in Wadsworth in which his family lived together for more than 22 years. Sadly one of Dons biggest dreams never came true. He purchased a 68' Camaro at the age of 16 and always had a dream of rebuilding it one day. He will be missed dearly by all that knew him, and his stories will live on forever. Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Patty; sons, Jeffrey (Nicole Motley) Cossman of Wadsworth and Kelly (Rosie Bieniek) Cossman of McHenry, IL; close family friend who was like a son, Casey Guth of McHenry, IL; grandchildren, Taylor, Jeffrey Jr., and Rayna Jean Cossman; mother, Mary Ann Cossman of Beach Park, IL; brother, Dennis Cossman of Westfield, WI; sisters, Debra (Brian) Mellinger of Waukegan and Kathy (Bob) Fuesting of Zion, IL; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, and his four legged companion, Chevy. He is preceded in death by his father, William Cossman; brother, Billy Cossman; and grandmother, Edna Dubs. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2009, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion. Memorial donations are suggested to Newport Fire and Rescue.
