Obituary of Elizabeth Chamberin

Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Chamberlin, (nee Newenham) 85, of Geneva, Illinois, died June 15, 2009 at Povena Geneva Care Center in Geneva. Elizabeth graduated in 1940 from Waukegan Township High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She also attended Lake Forest College. After World War II she and her husband Bert, served First United Methodist Churches in Congress Park, Sterling, Blue Island, Palatine, Glenview and Geneva, IL. She was an active member of United Methodist Women and the PEO. She enjoyed traveling and was fond of relaxing in Door County, WI. Elizabeth liked to collect Hummel figurines. She collected the little girls, and her mother, the little boys. They both loved their Hummels. She also collected paintings and art work by the famed contemporary artist Thomas Kinkade, the "Painter of Light". Betty also loved and collected prints and statuettes of historical lighthouses. Elizabeth is survived by one son, Bill (Carol) Chamberlin of Lexington, NE; and one grandson, Ray Chamberlin of Cozad, NE; and cousins, Carol Krueger and Roberta Reuter both of Dixon, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Rev. C.A. Chamberlin in 1979; her father, Ray in 1973; and her mother, Fern in 1985. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, June 29, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church of Geneva, 211 Hamilton Street, Geneva, IL. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Northshore Garden of Memories, North Chicago, Illinois. Memorial donations may be made in Elizabeth's name to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123, or Board of Pensions of the United Methodist Church, 1201 Davis Street, Evanston, IL 60201.
