Obituary of Charlotte Mortensen

Charlotte Mortensen, 80, passed away on July 10 after a brave battle with cancer. Born on October 14, 1928, in Madison, Wisconsin, Char spent her childhood in Wisconsin, moved to Waukegan as a teenager, and lived in Gurnee and Waukegan as an adult. She recently retired after working 13 years at Domino Amjet in Gurnee. Char enjoyed bowling, knitting, playing bingo, and going out weekly for dinner with her dear friend Judy Kelley. Char was a president of the Lioness Club. She loved to travel to visit her children and grandchildren, especially to Las Vegas, where she enjoyed all it has to offer. We will miss her feisty spirit. Survivors include her children, Ann Hammerslag " Arizona, Randy Mortensen " Nevada, Rob Mortensen " Colorado and Jan (Andrew) Glover " Illinois; her grandchildren, Scott (Kelly) Hammerslag, Todd Hammerslag, Heather DePerte, Katie DePerte , Andrew Glover, Shane Mortensen and Eric Mortensen; her sister, Joann Rompella; her sister-in-law, Arlene Calamia; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and great-great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Veronica Calamia, and her brother, Charles Calamia Jr. At her request, no service will be held. Memorial donations in her name may be made to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation, PO Box 515, Northampton, MA 01061-0515 or www.macular.org.
