Obituary of Edna Scheske

Edna Sophie Scheske, 92, of Waukegan, Illinois, died on Thursday, July 23, 2009 at Winchester House in Libertyville. Edna was born February 12, 1917 in Iron River, Michigan to Benjamin and Bernice Marchinowski. She moved to Waukegan in the 1940's and worked for Johns-Manville during World War II. She became a member of the Johns-Manville (J-M) Club where she met her late husband, Ervin in 1946. Edna and Ervin were married on May 14, 1948 at Immaculate Conception Church in Waukegan. They were both very involved members of the J-M Club and enjoyed socializing with family and friends at The Club. Edna was an avid bowler, bowling on Thursday morning Ladies League for many years. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, taking walks and spending time with family in Iron River, Michigan. During her life Edna waitressed for banquets and parties at the J-M Club, The Sheraton in Waukegan and the Illinois Beach State Park Lodge. She was a parishioner of St. Anastasia Church of Waukegan. Edna was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her and loved her. Edna is survived by her loving daughters and son, Donna (Terry) Warren of Cary, North Carolina, Linda Fornero of Seattle, Washington, and twins Marie Jones and Jim Scheske both of Waukegan; loving grandchildren, Katie and Lindsay Warren of Raleigh North Carolina, Michelle (Kevin) Vlies of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Eric (Sarah) Jones of Volo, Illinois, and Dana (Mike Ware) Jones of Zion; great-granddaughter, Hannah Marie Vlies of Green Bay, Wisconsin; Sister, Dorothy (Paul) Martin of Kenosha, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ervin; five brothers, Chester, Alec and Ben Marchinowski and Joe and Isadore Znorski; two sisters, Helen Cattani and Eleanor Ehlers; and one great-grandson, Daniel. We gratefully thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Winchester House in Libertyville for their loving care of our mother since 2007. We also thank the nurses and staff of Vitas Hospice Care for their compassionate care in the last months of Edna's life. Visitation will be Sunday, July 26, 2009 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. A private graveside service will be held later at Northshore Garden of Memories in North Chicago.
