Alvin M. "Red" Goodale, 88, of Beach Park, IL, formerly of Lockport, IL, and Scottsdale, AZ, died on Thursday, August 13, 2009, at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan, IL.
Red was a 1939 graduate of Lockport Township High School and a 1941 graduate of Joliet Jr. College. He married June Lynn on April 8, 1942, in Missouri. Red was a long time member of the 1st Methodist Church in Lockport. He served with the United States Army in World War II in the European Theater and was a Past Master of the Masonic Lodge in Lockport. Red was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid Chicago White Sox Fan and had a love of studying the Civil War and the life of Abraham Lincoln.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, June Goodale; daughters, Marlene (Richard) Williams of Chicago and Marcie Goodale of Beach Park, IL; grandchildren, Allison, Katharine, Anthony, and Gemma; brother, Donald (Helen) Goodale of Mauston, WI; sister, Marilyn (Carlton) Baumgartner of Lockport, IL; numerous nieces and nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mildred Goodale; brother, William Goodale Jr; and son-in-law, Rick Sussen.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2009, at 10:30 a.m at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan, Zion, IL. Interment is private for the family. Friends may greet the family on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
