Obituary of Lois Rukstales

Lois Elaine Rukstales Lois Elaine Rukstales, 84, of Zion, IL, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2009, at Rolling Hills Manor in Zion. Lois was born August 25, 1925, in Sherrard, IL, to Karl and Myrna Frank. She was a graduate of Monmouth College and taught school in Wisconsin before finding her career at Pfanstiehl Labs where she met and married Victor Rukstales. Lois continued her passion for education over the years as President of the local PTA and the Zion Elementary School Board. She was an active and vibrant member of the Memorial United Methodist Church in Zion. Lois was also a member of AAUW. Survivors include five children, David (Amy), Richard, James (Sandy), Christine (Charles), and Kenneth (Lisa); eight grandchildren, Andrea, Jessica, Jennifer, Nicholas, Thomas, Amanda, Landon, and Scott; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Fern (Bob) and Inez; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor, in 1997. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2009, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan, Zion, IL. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2009, at 1:00 p.m at Memorial United Methodist Church, 2935 Sheridan Rd., Zion. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Memorial donations are suggested to the Memorial United Methodist Church.
