Elinor Drolet

Obituary of Elinor Drolet

Elinor Arlene Drolet, 81, of Waukegan, lived a full life and was called to her heavenly home by the Lord on September 22, 2009 at home. Elinor was able to stay in her beloved earthly home until her passing. Remaining in her home was her most important wish. Elinor enjoyed a long and fruitful retirement after a career at Johns-Manville that spanned 24 years. She enjoyed life in her home and her gardens at her own pace with her companion of 14 years, her cat, Whiskers. She was also able to travel with family and friends to visit other family and friends around the country. Craft shows, reading, and game shows were some of her favorite pastimes. She was also an avid Cubs fan, watched the baseball game on T.V. whenever possible and joined in HEARTILY to sing "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" during the 7th inning stretch. On the days the Cubs won, she also belted out the best victory song in all of baseball - Go, Cubs, Go!!!! She had the power and she had the speed. Elinor is survived by three children, Lawrence (Patti) Drolet of Millers Creek, North Carolina, Diane (Mike) Cesnovar of Beach Park, Illinois, and Caron Drolet of Beach Park, Illinois; and four grandchildren, Collin Drolet of Wilkesboro, North Carolina, Carly Carrison of Gurnee, Illinois, Dana Drolet of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Anna Broughton of Beach Park, Illinois. Elinor (3.8 lbs) was preceded in death by her twin sister, Emily Ann (1.8 lbs) in 1927; her husband, Ambrose in 1969; her father, Lester Harms in 1978; her mother, Dorothy Harms in 1994; and her youngest son, Jeffrey in 2005. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 2, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 128 N. M.L. King Avenue, Waukegan, with Pastor William G. Owen and Rev. Gehl Devore officiating. Elinor's ashes will be buried with her husband at Northshore Garden of Memories. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Condell Advocate Hospice in remembrance of Elinor so Hospice can continue to offer excellent services as provided to Mom and her family.
