Obituary of Robert Anderson

Robert C. Anderson, 84, of Winthrop Harbor, IL, gave his body to the Anatomical Assoc. of Chicago and his soul to his Savior on October 18, 2009. Bob was born in Chicago and had previously lived in Pecatonica, IL, prior to moving to Zion in 1959. He married Rosalie on April 26, 1947 in Galesburg, IL. Bob attended Wright City College in Chicago and Dickinson College, Carlyle, PA. He was a longtime member of Moody Church in Chicago and also had memberships in the Zion Exchange Club, Zion American Legion, and the Swedish Glee Club. Bob served on the board of the Benton-Greenwood Cemetery Association and played piano for the Vietnam Vets when he was a volunteer for the American Red Cross. He was a United States Air Force Veteran of World War II and owner of Robert C. Anderson & Sons Swimming Pool Company, Zion, IL. Bob enjoyed his family, traveling, boating, flying, playing the piano, good music, good food, photography, and nature in all of it's splendor. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rosalie Anderson; children, Dale (Dawn) Anderson of Zion, IL, Craig (Cindy) Anderson of Las Vegas, NV, and Sandra Anderson of Waukegan, IL; grandchildren, Ryan, Clint, and Chad Anderson, and Courtney (Adam) Prestage; great-grandson, Jake Prestage; numerous nieces and nephews; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2009, at 4:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, with Pastor Jon Wiziarde of Christ Community Church of Zion, officiating.
