Obituary of Robert LeBlanc

Robert "Bob" LeBlanc, 81, of Waukegan, Illinois, died on Thursday, December 3, 2009 at home. Bob was born July 31, 1928 in Cambridge, Massachusetts and moved to Waukegan in 1966 after retiring from 20 years with the United States Navy. Bob served in Japan, Korea, Norfolk, and the state of Washington and he served onboard the USS Truckee and the USS Polaris as well as other ships during his career. He was employed at Larson Marine in Waukegan and spent 15 years with the Great Lakes Fire Department. His summer job was mooring lines at Waukegan Harbor. Bob's hobbies were building ships in bottles and oil painting. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Peggy; one son, Keith (Sandra) LeBlanc of Salem, Wisconsin; two grandchildren, Jeremy (Jodi) LeBlanc and Monica (Adam) Leis; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Donald (Bertha) LeBlanc of North Port, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hector and Emaline LeBlanc. Visitation will be Saturday, December 12, 2009, from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, with funeral services following at 4:00 p.m., Pastor Michael Brown officiating. In lieu of flower, memorial donations to American Cancer Society have been suggested.
