Obituary of Virginia Umfleet

Virginia M. Umfleet, 77, of Beach Park, IL, died on Sunday, December 20, 2009, at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan. Virginia was born August 1, 1932, in Danville, IL, and married Ishamel Umfleet on September 30, 1950, in Black Oak, IN. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waukegan where she served with the Altar Guild and Ladies Aid. Virginia was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grand mother. She loved camping and was particularly fond of her dog, Sasha. Survivors include three daughters, Rebecca Umfleet of Round Lake Beach, IL, Marcia (Bill) Johnson of Fox Lake, IL, and Eula (Steve) Chagdes of Naples, Fl; grandchildren, Jennifer, Virginia (Brent), Christina, Jeromie, Jason (Michelle), Christopher (Sarah), Donna, Amanda, Danielle, and Kenny; great-grandchildren, Tiffany, Allison, William, Jason, Abby, Isabella, and Lilyana; brother, James Henderson of Griffith, IN; sister, Janice (Gary) Yahr of Beach Park, IL; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Ishamel in 2005; son, Jerry Umfleet; daughters, Debra Umfleet and Cynthia Gray; and father and mother, Robert and Eula Henderson. A visitation will be held on Monday December 28, 2009, from 5:00 p.m - 8:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL, and again on Tuesday, December 29, from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1310 Frolic Ave., Waukegan, IL. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the church with Rev. Steve Radunzel, officiating. Interment will follow at Ft. Sheridan Cemetery, Highwood, IL. Memorial donations are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
