Obituary of Douglas Koss

Douglas R. Koss, age 74, of Waukegan, Illinois, passed away January 18, 2010. He was born October 7, 1935 in Waukegan and remained a lifelong resident. He was an active member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. He attended the University of Illinois Chicago and served in the United States Air Force. He and his brother Bob Koss owned and operated Bob & Doug's Amoco Service Station on the corner of Sunset and Lewis in Waukegan for 43 years, along with Bob & Doug's Auto Service on Sunset and Northern in Waukegan for the last ten years of their business. He is survived by his loving wife, Beth; two daughters, Amy (Christopher) Venckus of Bristol, Wisconsin and Sally (Mark) Stailey of Rochester, New Hampshire; one son, David Koss of Waukegan; two sisters, Margaret Lyons and Florence (Robert) Kristensen; sister-in-law, Pamela Koss; many devoted nieces, nephews and cousins; and four wonderful grandchildren, Danni, Maddie, Ryan and Anna. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Grace Koss; and a brother, Robert Koss, whom he loved very much. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 22nd, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1310 Frolic Avenue, Waukegan, with Pastor Steven Radunzel officiating. Interment will follow at Northshore Garden of Memories, North Chicago. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. Friends of the family may visit from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Church before the service.
