Mary Janice McCarley (nee Post). On Sunday morning, April 30, 2012 Mary Janice McCarley was escorted to heaven by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She is resting in the peace and comfort promised by our loving God. Janice was welcomed to Heaven also by her parents, Raymond and Ida Post; 7 brothers and sisters, Lois Flora Qualls, A Renson Post, Guyles Raymond Post, Trixie Mae Ibsh, Carrie Lou Robinson, Mona Rachel Moreno, Glee Falk, her husband Cecil McCarley and many, many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Janice will be missed very much by her family who remains here until we can see her again, her daughter, Viva Sue (McCarley) Ano; her grandchildren, Cindee Learsch (of Clearmont, FL), Robbin and Mike Parker (of Beach Park, IL), and her great-grandchildren, Terry Learsch (Phoenix, AZ), Emilee Learsch (Glendale, AZ), Katie Parker and Sara Parker (both of Beach Park, IL); her brother-in-law, Junior McCarley (Zion, IL); niece-in-Law, Jan Davis (Winthrop Harbor, IL); grand-nephew, Ken Davis and Beverly Lebeau (Winthrop Harbor, IL). She will be remembered and loved by her extended family of many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, cousins and even great-nieces and nephews living all over the United States. Mary Janice was born November 28, 1922 in Bexer, Alabama. She grew up on a farm, growing and "picking" cotton. She was no stranger to hard work and hard times. She lived through the great depression, World War II, and all the changes our country has experienced to date. She moved to Zion, IL in 1948, when she was 26 years old and she began her career at Abbott Laboratories. She started out working on the assembly line checking and packing products. She ended her work at Abbott after 28 years, retiring in 1981 as a Quality Control Supervisor. She enjoyed life after retiring and filled her time with quilting, sewing, crocheting, country music, great grand kids and trips to Alabama to visit friends and family. Her favorite pastimes were gardening and she was an outstanding cook and baker. During her stay on earth, she believed firmly in the love and saving grace of Jesus, and the mercy and forgiveness of God and taught that to her family. She regularly attended the Memorial United Methodist Church in Zion, IL. She most recently lived at Sunrise Assisted Living of Gurnee where she was attended by many wonderful workers. She also captured the hearts of many people from Midwest Palliative & Hospice care who provided her with the best of care and special attention to the end of her life. A time of viewing will be held on Thursday, May 3, at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL from 5-8 p.m. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, May 4 at the Memorial United Methodist Church, 2935 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL, at 10:00 a.m., followed by Interment at Mt.
