Obituary of James Monroe

James H. Monroe, 81 of Harrisburg, IL, formerly of Zion, IL went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 25, 2010, at home in Harrisburg. James was born February 10, 1929, in Rosiclare, IL, and married Beverly Markley on July 8, 1955. He was a member of River of Life Church in Harrisburg. Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Schultz of Union Grove, WI, and Ruthie (Bob) Hammersley of Simpsonville, S.C; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters; Shirley French of Rosiclare, IL, and Juanita (Evert) Vineyard of Golconda, IL; and nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Beverly in 1997, and a brother. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2010, at 2:00 p. m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
