Obituary of Ophie Pate

Ophie Pearl Pate, 83, of Zion Il, died on Monday, July 12, 2010, at home surrounded by her family. Ophie was born May 31, 1927, in New Site, Mississippi and married Fred Pate on May 31, 1947. She was a former employee of Glazier Sewing Factory-Sewing Outlet Store in Zion. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Ophie had a huge heart of love for everyone. She loved to cook from her garden and watch the people eat it. Ophie like to sew and do many different crafts. She loved to watch her garden grow and her beautiful flowers. Ophie was a very special person, one of a kind. There will never be another one like her. Many people will remember her from the Zion Sewing Outlet Store. Survivors include children, Barbara (Joe) Gold of Beach Park, IL, and Boyd (Carmella) Pate of Burbank, CA; grandchildren, Jason Gold and Kevin and Brian Pate; great-grandchildren, Trent Hallgren, Tresten Gold, and Kristen, Jonathan, and Oliver Pate; and great-great-grandchild, Nash Darge; brothers, Gene (Billee) Taylor of Zion, William "Bo" (Jean) Taylor of AL, A. C. Taylor of AL, and Dalton Taylor of MS; sisters, Clarene (Emit) McGaughy, Nell (Bobby) Wallace; and Dee Rikand, all of Mississippi; dear friend, Florence Johnson; loving care giver, Regina Konefal; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Pate; son, Waymon (Tatter) Pate; five brothers; father and mother, Louis and Pearl Taylor; and three sisters-in-law. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2010, at 10:00 a.m at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd. Zion, with Pastor Dennis Corley of North Point Community Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 14, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
