Obituary of Inez Larson

Born Sept. 2, 1922 in Conklin Michigan passed away Sept. 21, 2010 after a long illness with cancer. She recently celebrated her 88th birthday at home. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul G. Larson (1979) and her first son Bruce E. Larson (1988.) She is survived by her sister Esther Poulsen of Zion and her son Brian B. Larson and his partner Julie Connor Levey and daughter Meaghan of Carlisle, MA., and many nieces and nephews. The daughter of Claude and Hazel Bishop, Inez was a life long resident of Zion and beloved member of the Christ Community Church since 1936. She graduated in the last class of the Zion Parochial School (1939) and attended Lake County College of Commerce. She married Paul in 1942 and after eighteen years as a homemaker, she took up employment as secretary to three successive Superintendents of Zion Public Elementary School District No. 6, from 1960 until retirement in 1987. She was involved in numerous church activities and other organizations such as Band Parents and Zion Fire Bells. She loved to play the organ, travel and to find people connections to Zion all over the country and after retirement became accomplished in oil painting. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Community Church, 2500 Dowie Memorial Dr., Zion. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Visitation will be Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home , 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her memory to Christ Community Church (www.ccczion.org) or Camp Zion of Door County (www.campzion.com.)
