Wiladene Congdon Koetz, 93, of Zion, died on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at Terrace Nursing Home in Waukegan.
She was born January 7, 1917 in Zion, attended Zion Parochial Schools and graduated from Waukegan High School in 1935. In 1941 she graduated from Moody Bible Institute. Wiladene attended Christ Community Church and had been a longtime member of Grace Missionary Church. She had been employed at Johns-Manville in Waukegan. Wiladene was also active in Zion Woman's Club, was a former board member of Zion Child Evangelism, belonged to the women's auxiliary of Gideon's International and was a former member of Waukegan Christian School.
Survivors include children, Ozzie (June) Koetz of Gurnee, Harry Koetz of Zion, Anne (Ken) Miller of Zion, David (Helen) Koetz of Winthrop Harbor, Opal (Bob) Spanton of Zion, Kimberly Kim of Zion and Holly Habecker of Greensboro, North Carolina; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marie Congdon of Huntsville Texas; cousin Wilma Heiser of West Palm Beach, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Koetz in 1979; parents, Ray and Bessie Congdon; and siblings, Everett Congdon, Margaret Spanton, Don Congdon and Bert Congdon.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 18, 2010 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 19th, at 11:30 a.m. at Christ Community Church, 2500 Dowie Memorial Drive, Zion, with Pastor Jon Wiziarde officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Memorial donations to either Zion Child Evangelism, or Gideon's International have been suggested.
