Obituary of Richard Molidor

Richard "Papa" Molidor, Age 81, Zion, passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2010, at Lake Forest Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born, October 15, 1929, in Libertyville, Illinois. Richard joined the United States Navy in 1947 where he met Jean Stites while stationed in Westerly, Rhode Island. They were married on September 10, 1949, and enjoyed 61 wonderful years together which included many vacations with family and friends. Richard was an ambitious entrepreneur owning and operating several businesses. For the past 40 years he owned R. Molidor's Coin Laundry. He enjoyed photography, bowling, fishing, hunting and camping; but was most proud toting his classic video camera where he never missed an important moment in the lives of his children and grandchildren. He was active in AFS (American Field Service), where he opened his heart and home to many foreign exchange students from all around the world, including June Smyth from South Africa, and Randi Johansen from Norway. Survivors include his wife Jean; daughters, Laura (Carl) Spaeth and Sandy (Mark) Ruckebeil, both of Zion, grandchildren, Karl Spaeth, Kristi Spaeth, Zachary Ruckebeil, Brett Ruckebeil, Kaitlin Spaeth, and Reid Ruckebeil; along with many dear friends . He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Herman and Murl Molidor. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 15, 2010 from 6:00-9:00p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to the Angelman Syndrome Foundation, 4255 Westbrook Dr., Suite #219, Aurora, IL 60504-8125
