Obituary of Steve Amerighi

Steve Amerighi, 64, of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois, died on Monday, January 3, 2011 at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan. Steve was born June 15, 1946 in Waukegan. He graduated from Zion-Benton Township High School Class of 1964. He proudly served during the Vietnam War with the Army 1st Air Cav. Steve owned and operated Amerighi Action Plumbing for the past 36 years. He was a lifetime member of Winthrop Harbor V.F.W. Post 7448 and held various offices, was a founding member of Sam Schiera American Legion Post #1943 of Winthrop Harbor and he was a member of Zion-Benton Moose Lodge #667. Steve was a fan of all types of motor racing, watched and attended many NASCAR races and especially followed Interstate Racing Association Winged Sprint car racing. He was also a huge fan and supporter of #11 car owned by his friend Bob Walldan. Steve also bowled in American Bowling Association Amateur Tournaments for 25 years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved the outdoors. He was a Chicago sports fan, especially the Chicago Bears. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Jayne (nee Woodman); children, Tara (Billy) Morley and Ryan (April) Amerighi; five grandchildren, Will, Brenna, and Gianna Morley and Reese and Cole Amerighi; his mother, Marge Amerighi; one sister, Sandra Heathcote; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, John; and brother-in-law, Ed Heathcote. Visitation will be Sunday, January 9, 2011, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 10th, at 10:00 a.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home with Pastor Jon Wiziarde officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion.
