Obituary of John Appenzeller

John "Jack" Appenzeller, 83, of Winthrop Harbor, IL, (a life-long resident of Lake County) passed away on Monday, January 24, 2011, at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan. Jack was born at home in Winthrop Harbor, on April 13, 1927. He was a career salesman. Jack served with the United States Navy during World War II. He was a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Zion #667, and Past President and lifetime member of the Winthrop Harbor Lions Club. Jack was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Bertha; daughter, Jane (Jack) Mullin of Waukegan, IL; brother, Lee (Esther) Appenzeller of Wilmington, Del; sister, Joanne Appenzeller of Zion, IL; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Kurt Appenzeller in 1990; and parents, John and Alice Appenzeller. Funeral Services and entombment at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park in Zion are private for the family. Memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society or National Kidney Foundation
