Obituary of Sharon Sotomayor

Sharon Sotomayor of Waukegan, Illinois, died on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 surrounded by family after losing the battle with lung cancer. She retired from K-Mart of Waukegan after 30 years. She then began driving special Ed students for Lakeside Transportation, a job she enjoyed and loved. She was a friend to everyone she met. She leaves behind her daughter, Helen (Guy) Sotomayor-Gray; her son, Timothy (Kathy) Sotomayor; her daughter, Carmen (James Sr.) Sotomayor-Williams; grandchildren, Shannon Sotomayor, Kianna Hughes, Brenna Sotomayor, Destinee Sotomayor, and James Williams Jr.; great-grandchildren, Nivea Sotomayor and Jayden Sotomayor; one brother, Allen L. Decker; one sister, Nancy L. Decker; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen M. Decker; her father, Allen Decker; her husband, Trinidad Sotomayor; and her grandson, Shawn Williams Sotomayor. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2011, from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, Illinois. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the family have been suggested.
