Obituary of Bertha Whitmore

Bertha M. Whitmore, 79, of Waukegan, IL died on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Manor Care in Libertyville with her family by her side. Bertha was born February 23, 1931 in North Thumberland County, Virginia and came to Waukegan in 1966 from Maryland. She was employed by Anchor Hocking Glass Company in the Carton Department and she retired from Victory Memorial Hospital Dietary Department, Waukegan. Bertha was an avid crocheter, enjoyed collecting lighthouses, reading, and flower gardening. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Jack; children, Jacqueline (Neil) Nelson of Indianapolis, IN, Kenneth (GiGi) Whimore of Winthrop Harbor, IL, Lois (Matthew) Rosenbloom of Libertyville, IL, and Maxine (Jerry) Cox of Winthrop Harbor, IL; seven grandchildren, Benton and Erik (Lauren) Nelson, David and Alex Whitmore, Jarod Rosenbloom, and Samuel and Steven Cox; three great-grandchildren, Jacob, McKenzie and Olivia Nelson; and two sisters, Betty Beane of Lancaster, VA and Virginia Hall of Gainsville, GA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Benton and Willie May Hall. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2011, at 10:00 a m., at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, with Priest Tamm of New Apostolic Church of Bristol, WI officiating. Interment will follow at Northshore Garden of Memories, North Chicago. Visitations will be Wednesday, February 16th, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m, and again on Thursday, February 17th, from 9:00 a.m, until time of services at the Congdon Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to SEDOL, for Autism support, 18160 W. Gages Lake Road, Gages Lake, IL 60030 have been suggested.
