Marion was born in Zion on February 15, 1919 and she died February 14, 2011 after a brief illness at the great age of 91 - just one day short of her 92nd birthday.
Marion's husband, Gordon E. Ohmstead died December 16, 1980. They were married 43 years.
Marion leaves behind four children, Gordon Dean Ohmstead of Zion, IL, Chuck Ohmstead of Forest City, North Carolina, Karen Ohmstead Smith of Zion, IL, and Emilie Ohmstead Hoselton of Tullahoma, Tennessee; sixteen grandchildren; and twenty five great-grandchildren.
Marion was a stay home mom for several years then went to work at the Zion Candy Factory in the mid fifties. From there she went on to hold the title of head bookkeeper for Billy Bicket Enterprises, one of Zion's biggest business men of his time. Marion was a life time member of the Christian Catholic Church which is called Christ Community Church now. Back in the twenties and thirties the church was also a school and a college and that was where she got her education. Marion was an accomplished seamstress, homemaker, singer and guitaress. She and her long time friend Bernie Beam would perform often on the local radio station
Our mother will be greatly missed by her family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Christ Community Church Missions have been suggested.
