Obituary of Kevin Oldham

Kevin Daniel Oldham, 33, of Pleasant Prairie died March 11, 2011. Kevin was born May 19, 1977 in Chicago. He married Katie McEssy on August 24, 2002 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Waukegan, Illinois. Kevin was a graduate of Warren Township Highschool, College of Lake County and the Fire Science and Paramedic School. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. Kevin was employed by the City of Waukegan as a firefighter and paramedic, he was a member of the Union Local 473, BASS, and God and Collisions. Whether in his role of adoring and devoted husband, playful and tender daddy, outstanding firefighter/paramedic, jovial and sincere friend, earnest son and brother, intense fisherman or dedicated musician, Kevin loved living life. His passion about the people and things that he loved surrounded him wherever he went. Even in the last year of his life as he courageously fought pancreatic cancer, Kevin's contagious fun-loving spirit saturated all he did. Once a strong, agile man leaping through life with abundant energy, he ended life physically weakened yet stronger in faith, courage and conviction than ever before. He discovered a way to change a death sentence into a purposeful life. The biggest truth that remains to be told about Kevin - he died peacefully, in love with his Lord and excited to attend his banquet feast in heaven. As his wife, I have never been more proud to call Kevin Oldham my loving husband. Kevin was survived by his loving wife Katherine Kay Oldham (nee McEssy); his daughters Stella Kay (age 3) and Evelyn Valentine (age 18 months); his parents Theresa and Dan Oldham; sisters Jennifer and Kelley Oldham; mother-in-law ('Ma') McEssy; father-in-law ('TerAnce') Terrence McEssy; sister in law ('Dre') Andrea Norcross; brothers-in-law ('Big Head Todd Monster') Todd Norcross and Jake Cowgill; nephews Jacob, Ethan and Elliot Cowgill and Levi Norcross. A memorial reception to honor Kevin's life will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 5 to 8pm at the Radisson Pleasant Prairie, 11800 108th Street, Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, 53135.
