Obituary of Larris Hargett

Larris Orville Hargett, 96, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 18, 2011. Larris was born August 14, 1914 at Golden, MS. His father was a farmer and he learned at an early age how to work hard. His mother passed away when he was nine years old and he helped care for his three younger siblings. Larris was an active member of Grace Missionary Church and in the past has served on the Elders board, Mission board, and also served on the former Mahon Mission board of South Africa. He retired from Johns-Manville after 32 years working there. Survivors include a daughter, LaJauan (Richard) Osborne; a step-son, David Havens; a step-daughter, Carolyn (the late Paul) Guerrero; two grandsons, Derek and Barry Osborne; two step-grandsons, Michael and Brian Welch; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Annie Mae (Stevens) Hargett; his second wife, Pearl (Havens) Hargett; his parents, Barton and Hattie Hargett; two brothers, Vuin (the late Elaine) Hargett and Stanley (the late Mavis) Hargett; one sister, Velvie (the late John) Morrow; one step-sister, Liller Bell (the late Dewey) Ray; and two infant granddaughters, Christy Gale and Jorie Diane Osborne. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL with Rev. Doug Carlson of Grace Missionary Church officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until time of services at the Congdon Funeral Home. Interment will be private later at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. In lieu of flowers memorials to either Grace Missionary Church or ZEMA have been suggested.
