Obituary of Michael Witte

Michael James Roy 20, of Winthrop Harbor, IL, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 29, 2011. Michael was born March 20, 1991, in Lake Forest, IL, and graduated from Zion-Benton Township High School in 2010. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Winthrop Harbor where he sang in the choir. Michael was currently a student at the College of Lake County. His volunteer activities included helping with the Zion-Benton Public Library and PADS. Michael enjoyed working out with the Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday group at the Illinois Beach State Lodge. He also enjoyed spending summers at his cottage in Montello, WI, where he enjoyed fishing and assisting neighbors with their yard work. Survivors include his father and mother, James and Mary Witte of Winthrop Harbor, IL; sister, Molly Witte; maternal grandparents, Donald and Patricia Bernardin of Winthrop Harbor, IL; paternal grandmother, Elsie Witte of Waukegan, IL; additional relatives, Donna Ferguson and Justin Ferguson; and aunts, uncles, and cousins. Also surviving is the family pet, Sydney. He was preceded in death by grandfathers, Roy Witte and James Labus. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 1, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. Friends may greet the family on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment is private for the family.
