John W. Baldwin, 66, of Winthrop Harbor, IL, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2011, at home, with his loving family by his side.
John was born May 5, 1944, in Waukegan, IL, and was a 1962 graduate of Waukegan Township High School. He married Nita Ikola on October 14, 1972, in Waukegan, IL. John was a member of Our Lady of Humility Church in Beach Park. He was a retired meat cutter of 42 years, working first for Krogers and then primarily for Dominick's Foods. John was a loving husband, father, "proud papa" (grandfather), and friend. He was a fun loving person who loved old automobiles and also liked to travel.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Nita; children, John (Tara Adams) Baldwin of Winthrop Harbor, IL, Carissa (Hank) Jansen of Queen Creek, AZ, and Bethanie (Matthew Sipolt) of Winthrop Harbor, IL grandchildren, Ariana and Jakob Jansen; sister, Mary (Rudy) Bandovich of Beach Park, IL; nephews, Bob Bandovich of Hebron, IL, and Steve (Kim) Bandovich of Roselle, IL; and nieces, Laura Bandovich of Beach Park, IL.
John was preceded in death by his father and mother, Walter and Edna Baldwin.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, April 15, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 W. Wadsworth Rd., Beach Park, IL. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville, IL. Visitation will be Thursday, April 14, 2011, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion. Memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society .
