Obituary of Arthur Bandman

Bandman, Arthur W. 73 of Wadsworth, IL passed away on July 20, 2011. He was born June 20, 1938 in Chicago, IL to Adolph and Sylvia (Millasnoori) Bandman. He married Carol J. Englund on July 7, 1956 at Immanual Ev. Lutheran Church in Waukegan, where he was a life long member and held several offices, including congregation president for several years. He graduated from Waukegan Township High School in 1956 where he played bass clarinet and studied electricity. He was in the U.S. Navy Reserves from 1955 to 1962 and worked at Johns Manville. He became a Journeyman Electrician with IBEW Local 150 in 1962 and retired in 2000. He and Carol were active with the Local 150 retirees club and enjoyed trips and activities with the group. Art's greatest joy was that all of his kids and grandkids became musicians. Art and his kids played with the Waukegan Municipal Band, and he and Carol chaperoned many trips as band parents. In addition to music, Art had varied interests including his Harley, Classic 55 Plymouth, square dancing and monthly get togethers with several groups of old friends. He spent 50 years as a landlord, and recently completed a rehab project on a cabin in Rock, Michigan where he and Carol enjoyed being members of Carol's extended family. Life has been good! Art is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carol; sons Michael (Susan) Bandman of Waukegan, IL and David (Nancy) Bandman of Springfield, VA; daughters Linda (Tom) Ziemann of Oswego, IL and Wendy (Jeff) Cholewinski of Beach Park, IL; grandchildren Mark and Scott Mankivsky, Kelly and Amy Bandman, Hannah, Kyle and Riley Cholewinski, and Leah and Matthew Bandman; step-grandchildren Chris (Myndi) Ziemann (Max), and Tracy (Tony) Bongiorno (Abigail, Chloe); brothers Donald (Beverly) Bandman of Paducah, Ky, Jerry Bandman (Sandy) of Antioch, IL, John Bandman of Wadsworth, IL, and Jim Bandman, of Waukegan, IL. He was preceded in death by his father and mother and brothers Richard Bandman and Robert Bandman. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 on Sunday, July 24, 2011 at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, Waukegan, IL, corner of Glen Flora and Frolic, with Pastor Steven Radunzel officiating. Visitation will be before the service, beginning at 2:00.
