Obituary of William Grubbs

Grubbs, Sr., William Grant "Bill" 85, of Gurnee, IL, died on Friday, June 15, 2012, at Winchester House in Libertyville, IL, surrounded by his family. Bill was born December 1, 1926, in Pineville, KY, and married Avonell Stollings on November 2, 1951. He served with the United States Army during World War II and retired from Johnson Motors after 32 years of employment. Bill had a passion for the carpentry trade, and enjoyed building many homes with his brothers, He grew up loving country music and played guitar and sang for many years with his family members. Survivors include seven children, Judy (Gary) Ocenosek of Zion, IL, Joyce Grubbs of Grayslake, IL, Charlotte (Timothy Salica) Moreno of Kenosha, WI, Barbara Hendrickson of Kenosha, WI, Janet (John Mukka) Kempton of Kenosha, WI, Kimberly Jarrett of Kenosha, WI, and William Grubbs Jr., of Kenosha, WI; fifteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Florence Brown of Gurnee, IL, Mary Norvell of Zion, IL, Glenna Miller of Kenosha, WI, and Carla Gross of North Chicago, IL; brother, Phil (Virginia) Grubbs of Gurnee, IL; numerous nieces and nephews and other family. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Avonell in 2009; and daughter, Bessie Dennis in 1994. Visitation will be Monday, June 18, 2012 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Northshore Garden of Memories, North Chicago, IL.
