Obituary of Geraldine Johnson

Geraldine "Gerri" Johnson, 86, of Kenosha, WI, formerly of Beach Park, IL, went home to heaven on Thursday, October 22, 2015, at Azura Memory Care in Kenosha. She was born June 22, 1929, in Zion, IL, the daughter of Ernest and Ethel (Mitchell) Haas. Gerri graduated from Zion-Benton Township High School in 1948 and was employed in the office of Zion Baking Division. She was a member and active in the Grace Missionary Church in Zion, the Winthrop Harbor AARP, and active with her class reunions before her illness of many years. Gerri was a loving and prayerful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Survivors include daughters, Susan Fries of Haskell, OK, Carolyn (Rick) Zudonyi of Kenosha, WI, and Beverly (David) Jackson of Zion, IL; nine grandchildren, Katina Reece, Timothy (Renee) Fries, Jamie Smith, Melissa Josephson, Kimberly Zudonyi, Leticia (Brad) Simoneaux, Denise Cardenas, Holly (Brian) Washington, and Ryan Johnson who was like a son she never had. Also surviving are eighteen great-grandchildren. (with one on the way). Gerri was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Johnson in May of 2013; brother, Fred Haas; her father and mother, and grandson-in-law, Keith Reece. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL, with Pastor Doug Carlson of Grace Missionary Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Pineview Memorial Park in Beach Park. Friends may greet the family on Tuesday from 10:00 a. m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Gerri's family wishes to express their gratitude and appreciation to the Azura Memory Care team members and a special thanks to the Grace Hospice team members.
