Bernard A. Epker, 87, of Waukegan, IL, passed away on Tuesday October 31, 2017 at Inspired Senior Living of Kenosha, WI.

He was born in Waukegan, Il on April 23, 1930, the son of the late Benjamin and Ruth Griner Epker. He was educated in the schools of Waukegan and following high school he was drafted in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict.

On September 1, 1951 he married Joy Saksa in Waukegan, IL.  She preceded him in death on November 19, 2005. Bernard was employed at Johnson Outboard Motor Corp for over 20 years as a machinist and later worked as a handyman into his retirement. He later married Eleanor Edwards.

He was an avid Cubs fan and loved working on model trains, airplanes, traveling in his motor home and listening to Frank Sinatra and Willie Nelson music.

Surviving Bernard is his wife Eleanor and her family, his three children; Susan (Vern) Hunt, Laurie Cook and Michael (Shari) Epker, grandchildren; Kristy (Mark) Prip, Katy (Jacob) Long, Kylie Hunt, Zachary (Tarra) Metz, Tyler (Katelyn) Cook, Alison (Joe) Ramos, Chad (Melissa) Epker, Brendon (Laura) Epker, Kimberly Epker and Chloee Epker; great grandchildren; Makenna and Kallie Prip, Levi and Penny Long, Lowan, Piper and Silas Metz, Ian and Austin Ramos.  He is also survived by other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Joy, an infant son, brother Bob Epker, son in-law Gary Cook and a grandson Ian Cook.

A private graveside service will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
