Obituary of Kenneth Malcolm Tyra

Kenneth Malcolm Tyra, 79, of Beach Park, IL passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, December 1, 2017 after a short, brave battle with pancreatic cancer.

Kenneth was born October 5, 1938 in Alabama.  He was employed with Illinois State Beach for 37 years and Johns Manville in Waukegan IL for 40 years, retiring from both.  He married Annie Ruth Justice on June 16, 1957 and together they raised 3 children.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, children, Diana (the late Jack) Mundstock, Lloyd (Regina) Tyra, Kimberlee (Joseph) Medici; step children, Heather (Brad) Tidd, and Lindsay (Scott) Melrose; grandchildren, Kyle, Jacob, Nicole, Anthony, Tiffany and Johnathan Tidd, Krysten and Stephani Morin and Camren Melrose; and great grandson, Jaxson Mundstock.  

He was preceded in death by his life companion, Susan Morin (2005).

Kenneth will be greatly missed by his family.  The family would like to express their gratitude to Vista Hospice for the exceptional care they provided Kenneth during the last few weeks.  

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., and Wednesday, December 6, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 10:00 a.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL.  Interment will be at Pine View Cemetery.
