Obituary of Betty Taylor

Betty Henson Taylor,84, of Zion, IL, formerly of Forest City, NC, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Hill Crest Nursing Center in Round Lake Beach.

She was born on April 29th 1933, in Mooresboro, NC, the daughter of the late Mose and Jenny Robbins Henson.  She was a graduate of: Cliffside High School, Cliffside, NC class of 1951, Isothermal Community College, in Social Work and the University of South Carolina in Spartanburg, SC, in Technical Nursing.  

She was a Registered Nurse before her retirement and had been active in health care and nursing for many years.  She was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Waves, following basic training and clerical school, she was stationed at the Pentagon for two years as a receptionist in the office of the Chief of Naval Operations , Admiral Arleigh Burke, Logistics Division.  Ms. Taylor received an Honorable Discharge at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii naval Base after the Korean War.  Betty loved Gospel Music and sang at her church at the Barton House.

She is survived by her daughter, Vicki (Ricky) Ledbetter of Spindale, NC; two sons; Shawn (Janice) Taylor, of Winthrop Harbor, IL and Kevin (LoAnn) Taylor of Trevor, WI; one brother, Charles (Sara) Henson of Garden City, Idaho, daughter in-law, Peggy Taylor of Winthrop Harbor, IL and one brother in-law, Wade Barrier of Salbury, NC.  She is also survived by nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, five nephews and one niece.

She is preceded in death by three sisters, one niece, and one brother in-law.

A private service was held in her name.
