William Woody Wood, 68, of Winthrop Harbor, IL, passed away on March 2, 2018 at home.
Woody was born May 17, 1949 in Waukegan, IL. He worked as a welder for over 25 years with Morton Manufacturing in Libertyville, IL. On Valentines Day this year he and his wife Karin celebrated 40 years of marriage. As a true believer of Peace, Love, and Rock 'n Roll Woody had an impressive collection of vinyl records. He also enjoyed his Lionel train collection and setting up his layout. He enjoyed watching and rooting for his favorite teams, the Cubs, Bears, and the Blackhawks.
Woody is survived by his wife, Karin (nee Puro); daughters, Rhiannon (Chris) Urso; and Tiffany Wood; grandchildren, Bayleigh, Madison, Lauren, and Christopher Jr.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Eileen (nee Smoger) Wood; brother-in-law, Brad Puro; mother-in-law, Laimi Gartley (Suomu); and father-in-law, Pell Puro.
Papa Woody will be missed by his family, friends and by everyone who met him. He will be remembered for his loving heart, warm spirit, and love for life.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 12:00 noon at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations to the family would be appreciated at
