Obituary of Carl E. Klawonn

Carl E. Klawonn, 80, formerly of Zion, Illinois residing in Kenosha, Wisconsin, passed away October 8, 2018. 

Carl was born May 4, 1938 in Zion, Illinois. On November 18, 1967, he married his beloved wife, Dottie in Zion, Illinois. He worked as a Service Manager for Larsen Marine Service in Waukegan, Illinois. He was an avid member of Christ Community Church in Zion, Illinois, where he was a choir member, an usher, and an actor in the Passion Play. Carl also assisted with church maintenance, served on the church board, and was part of the church sanctuary organ remodeling committee.

He is survived by his wife, Dottie Klawonn; his children, Robert Klawonn, Chris (Mary) Klawonn, Karl (Terri) Klawonn, Kim (Peter) Govoni, Barry (Jolie) Klawonn, Jason (Beth) Klawonn; grandchildren, Adam Klawonn, Kelly Klawonn, Nicole Petteys, Mia Govoni, Lindy (Eric) Duenkel, Casey Klawonn, Kyle Klawonn, Cailin Klawonn, Isabella Govoni, Kole Klawonn, Lexy Klawonn, Lanie Klawonn, seven great-grandchildren; as well as the multitude of fish that survived because Carl was reluctant to change his lures.

Carl is preceded in death by his 5 siblings, Robert Klawonn, Elizabeth Maynard, Florence Spohr, Byrdine Storey, Loretta Richards; and his parents, Leonard and Beulah Klawonn. 

A Memorial Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Christ Community Church 2500 Dowie Memorial Drive, Zion, IL. 60099 from 1:30 p.m. until the time of Service at 3:00 p.m.

Memorial Donations may be made in Carl’s name to either Easterseals Wisconsin Respite Camp or to Music Ministries of Christ Community Church.
