Obituary of Bernard Lopez

Bernard Lopez Sr., 75, of Waukegan,IL, died October 19, 2018 at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan.

Bernard was born March 29, 1943.  He was a lifelong resident of Waukegan and in December of 1962 married Shirley Stroud and became a father of five.  Bernie was a huge Chicago Bears, Sox, and Blackhawks fan.

He is survived by his children, Rachelle (Joe) Mabbett, Denise (John) Lopez-Bouwens, Steven Lopez Sr., Karen (Steve) Brown; brothers, Joseph (Doris) Lopez, and Don Velasquez; grandchildren, John (Kayleigh) Lopez, Amanda (Carlos) Rodriguez, Nichole Pardue, Joshua and Jacob Brown, Maria, Steven Jr., Layla Lopez, Ashley (Seth) Zeitlen, and Kyle Brown; great-grandchildren, Gicel, Briana Rodriguez, Declan Smith, Finley Lopez, Ezra Zeitlen.

He was preceded in death by his son, Bernard Lopez Jr.; parents, Inocencia and Joseph Lopez; and a sister Mercedes Hemersbach.

A visitation will be held on Monday, October 29, 2018 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion.  A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m.  Interment will be private for the family.
