Obituary of Lorraine Senter

Lorraine (nee Nelson) Senter, 86, of Kenosha, WI,  went home to Heaven on October 28, 2018.  

She was born November 20, 1931 in Morton, MN.  Lorraine grew up in Winthrop Harbor IL, and lived in Zion, IL for many years. She and Jack moved to Eagle River WI in 1993.  Lorraine graduated from Zion Benton HS in 1949 and took some college courses later in life.  She married DeLou Bricco in 1952, the couple later divorced.  In December of 1972 she married Jack H. Senter Sr. of Zion. He preceded her in death on December 17, 2003.  Lorraine is a member of North Prairie United Methodist Church in Zion where she was a Sunday School teacher and very active in the church for many years. She loved Jesus and wanted everyone to know about his saving grace.  Lorraine worked for the Selective Service during the Vietnam era, later working at ESO in Naval Station of Great Lakes.  After marrying Jack she helped him in the office of his business, Senter’s Car and Truck Plaza in Zion.  In Eagle River she was the office manager for Decker Enterprises, World Championship Snowmobile Derby Track.  She was a member of WI State Bowling Association 500 & 600 Club for many years, bowling until she was 83 years young!  She was the first Zion Jubilee Days Queen, and Zion Benton Circus Queen of 1949.  She belonged to a professional Roller Skating Dance Troupe performing in WI, IL, and Indiana. Lorraine had many hobbies, painting, gardening, and quilting, she made many beautiful quilts for her family.  Lorraine loved life and people, especially her family, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Her motto was the more the merrier!  She would “adopt” our friends and they would call her “mom”.  

Lorraine is survived by three daughters, Anita (Kenneth) Blumenschein, Judy (Kenneth) Kasten, and Joanne (Jeffrey) Barnes; two sons, David (Irene) Bricco, and Jack Senter Jr.; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Michele) Hallgren, Nicholas (Lisa) Bunnell, Adam (Ashlee) Bricco, Allyn Bricco and Amber Davis, Elizabeth (Jeffrey) Jacka, Robert (Amber) Barnes, Lyni (Ted) LaFayette, Ashley (Jon) Mathieu, Steven Barnes, Jennifer Hallgren, Andrew (Amy) Senter, Melissa Barnes and Mike Warren; great-grandchildren, Addison and Calvin Barnes, Lucas Bunnell, Tommy and Charlotte LaFayette , Ryan Hallgren, and expecting two more, Baby Senter in January 2019, Baby Bricco in February 2019; life-long friend Carol Moldenauer; and many more neices and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, Burt M. and Mae M. Nelson; her brother Les and his wife Donna Nelson; and sisters Thelma Nelson and Delores "Dolly" Jensen.  

 

A visitation will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 from 11:00 a.m until 12:00 noon at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion.  A funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon.  Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
