Celia Maggi Murphy, 102, of Beach Park, IL passed away peacefully on Friday, November 16, 2018. Celia was born on November 1st, 1916 in the historic mining town of Cherry IL. She moved from Cherry IL to Highwood, IL and worked as a glass girl at Exmore Country Club. She met the love of her life in Highwood. His name was Bernard Murphy. They married and had three daughters, Patricia (Robert) Issel, Kathleen (Thomas) Faust, and Mary Murphy. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years. She was the proud grandmother of Michael (Elizabeth) Issel, Mary Beth Issel, Kevin (Alison) Issel, Debbie & Ed (Faust) Sikich, Julie & Pete (Faust) Sikich, and Bryan Faust. She had 5 great grandchildren, Patrick Issel, Shannon (Issel) Johnson (Christopher), Michael (Carrie) Harper, Delanie Issel, Payton Issel, Karli Hamlet, Hannah Hamlet, Mathew Hamlet and Kevin Sworthout. She had 6 great great grandchildren, Mia, Alexis, & Camden Johnson, Emma & Lincoln Harper, Brenden Hadle, and a special granddaughter DeeDeeLoo. She was very proud of all her grandchildren. She enjoyed going to Potawatomi, and playing the machines at the Bally Muck. She loved being part of a Bunco group that met at her house once a month. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews she loved very much. She taught 3 generations how to make her famous pasta and tortellacchi. She also extended that to our large family of in-laws. She was an avid and longtime Cub fan, and lived long enough to see them win the World Series. She was a remarkable woman, and will truly be missed, but she had a great run.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 20th, 2018 from 9am until 10am with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10am at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 West Wadsworth Rd. Beach Park, IL. 60099. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville, IL.
