Obituary of Dennis M. Haley

Dennis M. Haley, 74, of Gurnee, IL passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at his home.

Dennis was born July 16, 1944 in Waukegan, IL to Emil and Irene Haley.  He was a prior resident of North Chicago, IL and Waukegan, IL where he attended Waukegan East High School and was a member of St. Dismas Church.  He was employed with Abbott Labs for 33 years.  Dennis was a member of numerous softball, bowling and country clubs.  He was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan and also enjoyed fishing.  He took pride in his automobiles including a 1932 Buick, 2002 T-Bird, and many Ford trucks.  Dennis had a heart of gold and his generosity was unmatched; he never hesitated to help anyone in need. 

Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Cynthia M. Haley; brother, Patrick R. Haley; and numerous nieces and nephews.  For the last 20 years, Dennis, along with his wife Cindy, have been privileged to have as their wonderful friend and neighbor, Danielle Maier.   

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Elaine.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL 60099.  Visitation will resume Thursday, December 6, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 10:00 a.m. at St. Dismas Catholic Church, 2600 Sunset Ave., Waukegan, IL 60087.  Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dennis’ name can be made to University of St. Mary of the Lake Seminary, 1000 E. Maple Ave., Mundelein, IL 60060.
