Obituary of Barbara Gruber

Barbara E. Gruber, age 72, of Gurnee, IL, and formerly of Waukegan, IL, passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at home surrounded by loved ones. Barbara was born September 23, 1940, in Chicago, IL. She graduated from Central High School in Paddock Lake, WI. Barbara married her late husband, Herbert W. Gruber on January 24, 1959. She retired in the year 2000 from the Waukegan School District where she had been employed for about 30 years. Barbara was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Survivors include her children, Russell (Kathryn) Gruber of Lindenhurst, IL, Diane Gruber Summers of Salem, WI, and Patricia (Richard) Whiteside of Tuscaloosa, AL; grandchildren, Nichole and Brent Gruber and Tonya Summers; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Ryann, and MacArthur; and nieces and nephews and other family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert; parents, Fred and Catherine Knickerbocker; sister, Pat Washburn; and brother, Bud Knickerbocker. Visitation will be Saturday, December 8, 2012, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. with a memorial service at 6:00 p.m.
