Thank you Dad

Drs said he had a weak heart,

And it was like that from the very start,

But even with that being said it was so full of love,

And for that we are thankful to our God above.

I will cherish every memory that you have instilled in my heart and in my mind,

And be grateful that they will not diminish not even with the passing of time.

Thank you Dad for your wisdom and your direction,

And even if you scolded us thank you for doing it with love and affection.

Thank you Dad for making sure we had clothes on our back’s and food on our table,

And assisting us with any task and even taking over when we weren’t able.

Thank you Dad for the lectures that you gave when we did wrong or were headed that way,

And for teaching us that if we were conflicted, to kneel down and pray.

Thank you Dad for giving us a life that allowed us to travel the world,

And to see the beauty, and the customs, and the cultures unfurled.

Thank you Dad for your sense of humor in the telling of jokes that made us laugh until we cried,

And for teaching us that if we do something—to give it 100% and to do it with grace and pride.

And thank you Dad for being the awesome husband that you were for my Mom,

I’m sure she has her own separate list of thank you’s that is probably twice as long.

But yeah, thank you for being the provider, the supporter, the “Superman” that you were,

And even though you didn’t have that “S” on your chest, you were that caped superhero—of that I am sure.

I could go on and on with the thank you’s that will last for days on end,

So we will send you off in our way to be with the Lord because you have work to which you must tend.

So thank you Dad for every single thing you’ve done or said or given in the time that HE allowed you to,

I just hope that we honor you in EVERY way and through EVERY thing and that you smile down when we do.

We greatly miss you Dad. But we will love you forever.
