Obituary of Nancy Martinez

Nancy Katherine Martinez, 76, of Zion, died December 14, 2012 Nancy was born March 9, 1936 in Chicago and was raised in Fox Lake. Nancy retired from Jewel Food Stores after 27 years, having served for 13 years as President of her Local Union. She was also a waitress at Café Oceana and the Full Moon restaurant until the age of 73. Nancy was a member of humane societies and veterans and animal charities. Nancy was very dedicated to her work and to her family, she was a wonderful care giver to many people. Nancy will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Nancy is survived by her children, John Gadiekis, Janet L. (Louis Davis) Mays, Mike E. Mays, and Ricardo Martinez; her step-children Lilly, Joseph, and William Jr.; grandchildren Katrina, William "Charlie Brown", and Mark Jr.; one sister Marianne Johnson; nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog, Nikko. She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years William in 2002; her son Mark E. Mays in 2002; and her Father and Mother Fritz and Wilhelmina Mueller; and by her beloved dogs Poopie and D.O.G. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd, Zion, IL. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Libertyville, IL. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Highland Park Hospital and Highland Park Heath Center staff for their compassionate care of Nancy.
