Obituary of Roger Lee

Roger O. Lee, 92, of Zion, IL passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2012 from complications from pneumonia at Kindred Nursing Home South in Kenosha, WI. He was born August 17, 1920 in Zion. He was a member of MeadowRidge Baptist Church of Zion. Roger owned and operated Roger's Music Store in Zion for many years and he retired in 1980 after 42 years at NOSCO Inc. For over 50 years Roger and his brothers did music ministries, known as the "Lee Brothers", providing music for various Nursing Homes, churches, prisons, and schools in the area. Roger also enjoyed playing softball where he was the starting pitcher for the C.C.A.C. team and he enjoyed playing volleyball with the Zion Park District. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Elvie; children Sharon (Wayne) Stoll of Wadsworth, IL, Roger Dale (Amanda) Lee of Chicago, IL, Wanda (Carlton) Smith of Winthrop Harbor, IL, Colleen (Dave) Skofstad of Antioch, IL, Shannon Lee of Zion, IL, Nathan (Veronica) Lee of Zion, IL, Dawn Taylor of Antioch, IL, and William Lee of Zion, IL; eleven grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister Connie; two brothers Harold and Vernon; his son-in-law Daryl Taylor; and his parents William and Grace Lee. Visitation will be Thursday, January 3, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at MeadowRidge Baptist Church, 4500 Rt. 173, Zion, IL, followed by a funeral service beginning at 12:00 noon, Pastor Rob Whitworth officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion.
