George Francis LaBaun passed away Sunday, July 23, 2006 at Sheridan Health Care and Rehab Center in Zion on his 90th birthday. He was a long time resident of Zion and retiree of Abbott Laboratories.
He was a veteran of WWII, having enlisted December 12, 1944. He served in the Army in the Pacific campaigns. George recieved the Purple Heart for injuries received in the Okinawa Campaign in April 1945.
George was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Jean LaBaun; his daughters Gloria (Glen) Goodson of Indianapolis, Indiana, Patty (Patrick) Olson of Bolingbrook, IL; and his stepchildren Patrick (Linda) Rich, Diana (Don) Bennett, and William (Debra) Moore.
Visitation will be Friday July 28, 2006 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Rd. Zion, IL. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor John Love of Sheridan Healthcare Center officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion.
