Corey Michael Loy, 49, of Round Lake Beach, Illinois died suddenly, but peacefully, in his home on October 30, 2020. He was born August 15, 1971 in Waukegan and lived most of his life in Zion and Winthrop Harbor. He graduated from Zion-Benton Township High School in 1989.
Corey was a Union Laborer for Local 152. He loved grilling out, golfing, riding his bike, playing hockey, fishing, watching the Bears and sitting around a fire pit telling stories and laughing the night away.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Michelle (nee Lambert) to whom he was married on July 26, 1997 at Our Lady of Humility Church in Beach Park; two children, Julia Loy of Round Lake Beach and Jakob Loy of Round Lake Beach; his mom, Bonnie (nee Zydkie) Loy of Wadsworth; three siblings, Richard (Kellie) Loy, Jr. of Winthrop Harbor, Lori (Bill) Taylor of Wadsworth and Brooke (Peter) Byrne of Twin Lakes, Wisconsin; nieces and nephews; a great niece and so many dear family members and loving friends. Corey is preceded in death by his father, Richard (Rick) Loy, Sr., from whom he learned how to be a friend to anyone he met.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 9, 2020 at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be private for the family. Friends are welcome to meet at Ascension Cemetery, 1920 Buckley Rd., Libertyville, IL on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at 12:45 p.m. for a Graveside Service.
